Tips To Consider Before Visiting The United States

With a rich history and so many unique traditions, the United States is one of the world’s most popular countries for tourists to visit.

Be it the outdoors, national parks, sporting events, historic sites, arts and culture, food and drinks, there are so many things to enjoy when you come to the United States, a country that attracts tens of millions of tourists annually.

Another popular industry that is booming in the United States? Mobile/online and in-person sports betting, which became legal in the nation in 2018 after the Supreme Court ruled that the Professional and Amateur Sports Protection Act of 1992 (PASPA) was a violation of the country’s Tenth Amendment.

If you’re visiting one of the states that have launched sports gambling, you can place sports bets and/or enjoy your favorite casino games (be it in person or through the tap of your phone) such as poker, blackjack, slots and roulette.

More than two dozen U.S. States have since legalized a form of sports betting, and more will soon join the industry. The states of Maryland, Massachusetts and Ohio have all made significant progress toward launching sports gambling.

At this time, Ohio sports betting is scheduled to launch on Jan. 1, 2023. Once it goes live, customers in the Buckeye State will be able to place wagers through top sportsbooks like DraftKings, Caesars, PointsBet, FanDuel and BetMGM.

These apps will also offer new customers special welcome bonuses such as risk-free bets, and residents of Ohio will be able to place all sorts of different wagers such as futures, point spreads, parlays, and money lines.

Finding The Cost-Saving Ways To Travel Around Cities/States

Finding The Cost-Saving Ways To Travel Around Cities/States

If you’re planning to visit multiple cities and/or states during your trip to the U.S., you should pay close attention to deals on flights, train/bus rides and more.

For example, let’s say you’re planning to visit several states in the western U.S., such as Washington, Oregon, California, Utah, and Arizona. There is a lot to see throughout those states, especially if you love the outdoors, hiking trails, cycling, swimming, etc.

In that sense, your best bet may be to rent a vehicle so that you can conveniently travel from state to state at a reasonable cost. This would apply, for example, if you’re planning to pack a lot of different sites into your U.S. vacation over a relatively small period (say 1-2 weeks),

On the flip side, perhaps you’re looking at a longer trip with several destinations that are spread out pretty far. Let’s say you want to visit cities on the east side of the country such as New York, Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, Boston, Cleveland, and Baltimore.

Cities like Chicago and New York have efficient transportation systems, and they offer cheap one-day or multi-day passes for public transit. These passes are worth looking into if you believe trains/buses will be your main source of transportation during your travels.

This is where you’ll want to closely look for excellent deals on flights and train rides. If you want to travel during a busy time like Thanksgiving or Christmas season, you should keep an eye on the airline, train, and/or bus deals.  It is often recommended that you book a month (or longer) in advance to secure the best deals possible. Waiting until the last minute for prime travel season is likely to cost you even more money.

Looking For Deals On Tourist Attractions & Public Events

Looking For Deals On Tourist Attractions & Public Events

Whether it’s a sporting event, concert, or another public event, you can save a lot of money by paying close attention to special offers, deals, and packages.

For instance, some public venues like museums will offer a discount on specific days, and some days they’ll offer free admission. If you want to attend a sporting event or concert during your visit, you could save money by purchasing a ticket at the last minute on the secondary market.

That’s large because some ticket holders may realize at the last minute that they’re unable to attend a public event, so they’re willing to sell it at a discounted price.

Being Aware Of Surroundings/Personal Safety

Being self-aware and knowing your surroundings is vital when it comes to safe traveling.

Obviously, you’re likely going to be safe when walking through a busy city during the day. But you should be especially cautious if you’re traveling alone at night time, especially if it’s a city you’re unfamiliar with.

In some instances, taking public transit, a taxi or a ride-sharing service like Lyft or Uber is worthwhile as opposed to walking home. You should do plenty of research ahead of time on the neighborhoods you’re visiting/staying to ensure your safety.
